Haines Junction’s location makes it an excellent base for day trips. Haines Junction has four major lakes in the immediate area: Pine Lake, Kathleen Lake area, Dezadeash Lake and Kluane Lake which is the Yukon’s largest lake. On the edge of town, Pine Lake is a popular spot for swimming, picnicking, fishing and boating with a beach and playground area that make it a perfect family destination. The shores of Kluane Lake, the historic Silver City, and Tachäl Dhäl Visitor Centre at Sheep Mountain are all an easy, scenic drive to the North.
